Now I'm Reading! is an award-winning learn-to-read program that gives children simple steps to reading success! Our books combine the two major approaches to reading: phonics and literature-based instruction. Each book in the series focuses on specific phonics skills and sight words, and each level gradually increases in difficulty while reinforcing previously-mastered skills.
Easy for parents to use—and fun for kids to learn with—these books will soon have your little ones declaring, “Now I’m reading!”
You can learn more about the individual levels in the series below.
PRE-READER: Just right for children who want to read, but aren't quite ready to sound out words using phonics! At this level, children will read simple, repetitive stories which make them feel like readers before they are ready to decode words.
LEVEL 1: A first step to reading that focuses on early readers!
Books in Level 1 focus on:
- recognizing letters and sounds, and applying that knowledge to decoding short vowel words
- identifying and reading short cvc (consonant-vowel-consonant) words
- identifying short-vowel words with blends and digraphs
LEVEL 2: Titles in this level introduce young readers to long vowels and reinforce short-vowel sounds and sight words! Distinguishing between short- and long-vowel words in the same text is a major goal for beginning readers, which will help increase their reading fluency and overall comprehension.
LEVEL 3: With Level 3, children advance to new sounds and blends with longer words and sentences, plus more new sight words. Each of the ten booklets in a Level 3 set introduces a new sound, blend, or vowel pattern (for example, ar, the, y says i, oy, ew, and more). These books also reinforce the skills learned in Levels 1 and 2 for continued practice and greater reading success.
LEVEL 4: Children continue to advance to new sounds and blends with longer words and sentences, and more sight words. Each of the ten booklets in a Level 4 set reinforces the skills learned in Levels 1, 2, and 3 and introduces new word skills, such as silent consonants, compound words, igh and ight, and contractions.
